The hotel has a restaurant offering B&B as well as full board, which I would highly recommend. The breakfast is ok, however the food in the restaurant is diverse and delicious. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the stay for my summer vacation and plan to visit it again in winter.

Planning your trip to Bakuriani
When to go
The ski season usually runs from late December to early April, and the dependable weeks are January to mid-March. Bakuriani sits lower than Gudauri, around 1,700 m in the village and just over 2,200 m at the top of the main lift, so early December and April snow can be patchy; snowmaking on the main runs covers the gaps most years.
Avoid the New Year window from 31 December to about 7 January unless you want the party: the town is full, tables are booked out and rates hit their annual peak. Weekends are the other pinch point — Tbilisi day-trippers arrive from Friday evening, the Didveli lifts queue, and the same room costs noticeably more.
Midweek in late January or February is the resort at its best: short lift lines, quiet restaurants, and hotels willing to negotiate on stays of three nights or more. Bring proper cold-weather kit; nights drop well below freezing and clear mornings on the plateau feel colder than the thermometer suggests.
Summer is a real second season. June to September brings pine-scented air, daytime warmth in the low twenties and Georgian families renting for weeks to escape lowland heat. April, May, October and November, by contrast, are mud, fog and shuttered kitchens — come only if you specifically want an empty mountain town.
Getting there and around
Tbilisi to Bakuriani is about 180 km and three to three and a half hours. Marshrutkas run from Didube station for something in the range of 15 to 20 GEL, with extra winter departures; shared transfers and private cars cost more but drop you at the door, which matters with skis and children.
Kutaisi and Tbilisi airports are both roughly three and a half hours away by road. The last 30 km, climbing from Borjomi through Tsagveri, is the part that bites: tight switchbacks, ice from November, and police who will turn back cars without winter tyres. Chains in the boot are sensible; heavy snowfall usually means delays rather than closure.
The narrow-gauge Kukushka train from Borjomi is the romantic option — well over two hours for 30 km, costing only a few lari, through forest and across viaducts. Departures are limited and services can be suspended, so treat it as an excursion rather than transport, and check the schedule locally.
In town the centre is walkable and short taxi hops run to a few lari; Didveli, Kokhta and Mitarbi cost more. Most hotels run slope shuttles — confirm the timetable before booking. A car helps for Mitarbi and summer trips towards Tabatskuri, but base-area parking fills by mid-morning on winter weekends.
Where to stay, zone by zone
Central Bakuriani — the main street, the church, the Kukushka station and the Tatra beginner slope — is where most of the 52 scanned properties sit. Guesthouses, small hotels and rental shops are all within walking distance, and it is the only zone where you can eat out without arranging transport.
Didveli, two to three kilometres south, is the ski base: newer apart-hotels and blocks within a few minutes of the gondola. Good for early lifts, thin on evening life. Check the real walking distance in metres and whether the path is cleared and lit — brochure claims of ski-in access are elastic here.
Kokhta and Mitarbi, five to seven kilometres out, are quieter and more scenic, with chalet-style places and large newer resort hotels among the firs. You are largely committed to your hotel's restaurant and shuttle. Families who want calm and space choose this side; anyone planning to wander into town in the evening should not.
Down the valley, Tsagveri, Tsemi, Daba and Borjomi itself are cheaper and lower, with mineral-water spa history and almost no snow. They work for non-skiers, for late bookers in New Year week, and for anyone combining the mountains with Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, at the cost of a 20 to 45 minute commute.
Eating and going out
Expect resort cooking rather than a food scene: khinkali, khachapuri, mtsvadi, chicken in garlic sauce and hot soups, at mountain prices maybe twenty to thirty percent above Tbilisi. Khinkali generally run a couple of lari apiece, a carafe of house wine somewhere in the 15 to 25 GEL range.
Almost everything worth eating is in the centre or attached to a hotel. On winter Friday and Saturday evenings tables genuinely run out — call ahead or eat early. Outside season half the kitchens are shut, and the ones that open may stop serving by nine.
Self-caterers have a small market and bakeries in town for bread, cheese, eggs and greens, but a proper supermarket shop is best done in Borjomi or before you leave Tbilisi. Apartment rentals here often come with a hob, a kettle and little else.
Nightlife is modest and honest about it: hotel bars, a couple of seasonal clubs, karaoke, mulled wine and chacha by a fire. New Year week is loud until dawn; the rest of the winter, the town goes quiet by eleven, and summer evenings are quieter still. Carry cash, since card acceptance is uneven.
Booking well
In our 2026 scans of 52 Bakuriani hotels, rooms started at about US$53 a night and the median from-price was close to the same figure — a small, flat market. Read those as lead-in rates for a basic double in a quiet week, not as what you will pay on 2 January.
Book winter weekends and the New Year period two to three months out; good-value central places go first, and what remains is expensive new-build or the far edge of town. For summer, ask about weekly rates — long August stays are normal here and are often negotiable directly with the owner.
Before confirming, check three things: heating and hot water in recent reviews, since some new blocks underperform in February; the distance to the lift you actually intend to use; and whether breakfast and shuttle are included. Photographs taken in July hide a lot of unfinished ground.
Snow is the real risk at this altitude. In thin years the lower runs suffer even with snowmaking, so favour flexible or free-cancellation rates for December and April, and check the Didveli and Kokhta lift status a few days before you travel rather than assuming the season is fully open.
