Rooms and rates
Hotel ushba in mestia did not surface a bookable rate in our 22-week 2026 scan, so we do not publish a guide price for it. That says nothing about the hotel itself — inventory comes and goes — and the widget below checks your exact dates in seconds. As with most hotels in Mest'ia, midweek nights tend to come in cheaper than weekends, and booking two or more weeks ahead widens the choice of rooms with free cancellation. The price you see after tapping “Check availability” is the live app.impt.io rate for your exact dates, not an estimate.

The facilities, in detail
For food and drink, the hotel lists bars, breakfast, breakfast in room, coffee and room service. On the wellness side there's jacuzzi. Practical services include 24 hour front desk, free car parking, laundry service, luggage storage, parking and security features. In the room itself: bathrobe, bathroom, free wifi, hairdryer, iron and board and safe. The full list of 54 facilities is below; double-check the ones that are deal-breakers when you book, as hotels adjust what they offer by season.
Good to know before you book
The booking flow is three steps: dates and guests in this page's widget, the live price on app.impt.io, and instant confirmation. Most rooms are offered with free cancellation until a few days before arrival — the exact deadline is shown next to each rate before you pay. Every confirmed booking also removes a tonne of CO₂ through IMPT's carbon-removal projects, at no extra cost to you. When comparing, note that the four-star rating reflects the hotel's declared standard rather than a guest score. Prices on this page are shown in US dollars, converted from the euro rates our scans observed; the exact total for your stay, including any taxes and fees, is confirmed in the booking funnel before you pay.
Where our data comes from

Hotel ushba in mestia did not return a bookable rate in any round — for the live picture, run the widget above for your dates. Prices you see here are per-night room rates converted to US dollars at the single euro rate used across this site; they are a planning aid, not a quote.

Mest'ia for hotel guests
People sleep here for three reasons: summer hiking to the Chalaadi Glacier and the Koruldi Lakes, winter skiing at Hatsvali and Tetnuldi, and breaking the long road to Ushguli. It is a base, not a city — the built-up centre is walkable in twenty minutes and much of the lodging is family guesthouses in converted village houses. Our 2026 scans covered 28 properties here, with rooms from around US$60 a night and a typical from-price in much the same range. All hotels in Mest'ia →

Planning your trip to Mest'ia
When to go
The hiking season runs from about mid-June to mid-September. By late June the Chalaadi Glacier trail and the Koruldi Lakes ridge are clear, days are around 18–25°C and nights are genuinely cool at this altitude. July and August are the busiest weeks, when trailheads, jeeps and guesthouses all fill. Cloud is the real gamble: Ushba can stay hidden for three days straight.
Winter runs roughly from mid-December to late March. Hatsvali, eight kilometres out, has the gondola and the easier runs; Tetnuldi is higher, more open and reached by a rough access road that shuts in bad weather. New Year and the Orthodox Christmas week are the two dates worth booking well ahead, and heavy snow can hold the Zugdidi road for hours.
May and October are the quiet, good-value months, with clear light and empty streets — but some guesthouses are shut, high passes hold snow into June, and the Ushguli road may not be running. April and November are the local off-season: mud, closed kitchens, thin transport. Beautiful if you want solitude, frustrating if you want a full menu and a jeep.
Getting there and around
Zugdidi is the gateway. Overnight and daytime trains run from Tbilisi, marshrutkas meet the arrivals, and the climb up the Enguri gorge takes about three hours for roughly 30–35 GEL. It is a spectacular road and a tiring one; sit on the left for the reservoir. Direct minibuses from Tbilisi take around nine hours and from Kutaisi five to six.
Small propeller planes link Natakhtari airfield near Tbilisi, and Kutaisi, with Queen Tamar airport on the edge of town. They are cheap and take about an hour, but baggage allowances are tiny and cancellations for weather are routine in any season. Book the flight, keep the road as your fallback, and never put a same-day international connection behind it.
In town you walk: the centre is fifteen to twenty minutes end to end. Short taxi hops run somewhere around 5–10 GEL, and drivers wait near the square. Shared 4x4s for Ushguli, Koruldi and the Tetnuldi base are arranged the evening before, usually at the square or through your guesthouse. Only Chalaadi is realistically reachable on foot from town.
Where to stay, zone by zone
Seti, the central quarter around the square, is where most first-time visitors should sleep. Restaurants, small supermarkets, ATMs, the museum and every departing minibus are within a few minutes. It is the easiest base if you have no car, and the only part of town with any evening life. The trade-off is engine noise early in the morning and slightly higher rates.
Lagami, immediately west, is the old quarter: lanes of Svan towers, hay barns, dogs, and a genuinely medieval feel ten to fifteen minutes' walk from the centre. Guesthouses here are mostly family-run with tower views from the balcony. Lanchvali, on the eastern side towards the museum and airstrip, is similarly quiet, with some steep lanes and the best Ushba sightlines.
Higher up on the hillside slopes above town you get the panoramic photographs and a taxi dependency after dark; fine with a car, awkward without. Prices are not automatically lower up there.
If you want the real thing, sleep out in the villages — Mulakhi and Zhabeshi towards Ushguli, Latali or Becho on the Zugdidi side. Expect a stove, a big family dinner and no restaurant choice at all, plus transport to arrange for every excursion. It suits a second visit better than a first.
Eating and going out
Svan cooking is distinct and worth the trip: kubdari, the spiced meat bread; chvishtari, cornbread with cheese; tashmijabi, potato whipped with mountain cheese; and Svan salt on everything. Portions are mountain-sized. Mains typically land around 15–25 GEL, khinkali about 2–2.5 GEL each, and house wine or chacha appears whether you ordered it or not.
Restaurants cluster on and just off Seti square and along the main road. In August, arrive before eight or reserve — kitchens run short-staffed and close early, often by ten. In April, November and deep midweek winter, half the places are shut and your guesthouse dinner, usually around 25–35 GEL, becomes the sensible default.
Nightlife is minimal and honestly so: a couple of bars, some live music during ski weeks, and that is it. Stock up on hiking snacks in the small supermarkets, which shut earlier than you expect. Carry cash — card readers are patchy in guesthouses and useless with jeep drivers, and the town's ATMs can run dry over a busy weekend.
Booking well
We scanned 28 properties in Mestia in 2026, with rooms from about US$60 a night and a median from-price in the same territory. Those are entry rates for quiet dates. For August, New Year and clear-forecast ski weekends, book one to two months out; the cheap rooms are the first to disappear and what remains is not representative.
Read what the rate includes. Guesthouse prices often bundle breakfast, with dinner charged separately; in winter, ask directly about heating, whether it is a wood stove someone must light, and hot-water hours. In shoulder season, confirm the place is actually open — listings stay live long after the family has gone down to Zugdidi for the winter.
Ask your host up front about airport or bus-station pickup, cash-only policies, and whether they can put you on a shared jeep to Ushguli. Good guesthouses arrange all three in one message.
Finally, build in slack. Snow, landslides and cancelled flights are normal here, not exceptional. Keep a spare night at the Zugdidi or Tbilisi end of the trip, and avoid non-refundable rates for your first and last nights in Svaneti.
