Good to know before you book
The booking flow is three steps: dates and guests in this page's widget, the live price on app.impt.io, and instant confirmation. Most rooms are offered with free cancellation until a few days before arrival — the exact deadline is shown next to each rate before you pay. Every confirmed booking also removes a tonne of CO₂ through IMPT's carbon-removal projects, at no extra cost to you. When comparing, note that the five-star rating reflects the hotel's declared standard; the guest reviews on this page tell you how it actually feels to stay. Prices on this page are shown in US dollars, converted from the euro rates our scans observed; the exact total for your stay, including any taxes and fees, is confirmed in the booking funnel before you pay.
Where our data comes from
Through 2026 we ran 22 weekly scan rounds against the live IMPT booking funnel, probing one-night stays across the coming weeks for every hotel in this guide. Kabadoni Boutique Hotel returned bookable rates in 1 of the stay windows we probed, most recently in October 2026. Prices you see here are per-night room rates converted to US dollars at the single euro rate used across this site; they are a planning aid, not a quote.
Sighnaghi for hotel guests
Cobbled lanes, eighteenth-century ramparts and a horizon of Caucasus snow fit into an area you can cross on foot in fifteen minutes. Most people come for wine, for Bodbe Monastery two kilometres down the hill, and for a balcony to watch the valley change colour at dusk. It is also a day-trip magnet from Tbilisi, which means crowded middays and very quiet nights. Hotels are few and rarely cheap: our 2026 scans found 24 properties, with rooms from around US$112 a night. All hotels in Sighnaghi →

Guest reviews
4.5447 reviewsThe hotel is in an impeccable location, all the main attractions are within easy reach! We had a two-story room with a spiral staircase! The breakfasts were good, but it was the same every day. But the highlight was the swimming pool with a gorgeous view of the mountains, meadows and villages. We had a view of the square, dogs barked at night - it prevented us from sleeping.
Such an amazing stay! Great location, beautiful views, clean, and truly lovely people. The piano music at night was a special treat. Huge thanks to Mary, Tornike, and Dachi for their warm hospitality. I highly recommend staying at Kabadoni Boutique Hotel ✨
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, even extended by one night. The hotel and restaurant may offer the best view in town, particularly from the "sky lounge" above the 3rd floor. You'll have to take the stairs, but well worth the climb for what amounts to a 360 view of the valley (have to use both doors to see it all) from the roof. We also found the sunset lounge (next to the always closed wine bar) to be a great place to sit and enjoy the view, with some local bread, fruit and cheeses for snacking with no other people around. Front desk staff had good English skills, and were quite helpfu…
Planning your trip to Sighnaghi
When to go
May, June, September and early October are the town's best weeks. Spring brings green vineyards, poppies on the ramparts and a clear line of Caucasus snow across the valley; autumn brings warm afternoons and the smell of fermenting grapes. Both shoulder seasons are also when the valley light is at its best.
Rtveli, the grape harvest, runs from roughly late September into October and is the reason many people come. Cellars are open, villages are busy, and every guesthouse with a marani wants you to help. It is also the tightest period for rooms in a town with barely two dozen hotels — book several weeks ahead and expect weekend rates above the usual entry band.
July and August are hot: the Alazani floor regularly reaches the mid-thirties, and Sighnaghi's altitude only takes the edge off. Mornings and evenings on a balcony are lovely; midday on the cobbles is not. This is peak day-trip season, so the square is crowded between noon and five and half-empty by nine.
Winter is honest and quiet: fog, kitchens that close early, a handful of guesthouses shut altogether, and Bodbe wrapped in cloud. Prices soften, but so does the reason to come. Whatever the month, weekends fill faster than weekdays — Tbilisi is close enough that Saturday belongs to visitors.
Getting there and around
Marshrutkas to Sighnaghi leave Tbilisi from Samgori (Navtlughi) station several times a day, take about two to two and a half hours and cost in the region of 10-12 GEL. Departures thin out after early afternoon and the last minibus back usually goes mid-afternoon, so don't plan a same-day return around dinner.
A taxi or pre-booked transfer from Tbilisi runs roughly 120-170 GEL one way, and plenty of people arrive on a shared day tour and simply stay on. Driving yourself is easy: the Kakheti highway through Sagarejo and Gurjaani to Tsnori, then a short switchback climb. The Gombori Pass route via Telavi is prettier but can be slow or closed after heavy winter snow.
Tsnori, five kilometres downhill, is the real transit hub: minibuses to Telavi, Lagodekhi and the Azerbaijani border pass through there, not through the old town. If you are heading onward rather than back to Tbilisi, plan on a short taxi down to the junction, around 10-15 GEL.
In town you walk. Everything sits within fifteen minutes of the square, but the streets are steep and cobbled — bad for wheeled suitcases and worse in rain. Ride-hailing apps work erratically here, so ask your host to call a driver. Bodbe Monastery is a two-kilometre walk or a cheap short taxi.
Where to stay, zone by zone
Inside the walls, around Solomon Dodashvili Square and along Erekle II and Chavchavadze streets, is where most small hotels and guesthouses sit. You are steps from restaurants, the museum and the tower stairs, and you can be out for the sunrise view long before the buses arrive. The trade-offs are weekend noise from the square and almost no parking.
The streets that drop off the ridge toward the valley are where the balcony photographs come from. A genuine Alazani view is worth paying for, but check that your specific room faces the valley rather than a courtyard or a neighbour's roof — listings are generous with the word. Also remember that every walk home is uphill.
Above and outside the walls, along the Bodbe road and the upper approaches, you find quieter small hotels with gardens, pools and parking. These suit drivers and families; without a car you are relying on five-minute taxis to reach dinner. It is a calm-versus-convenience choice, not a downgrade.
Cheaper beds are down in Tsnori and in vineyard villages such as Bodbe, Magaro, Anaga and Velistsikhe — practical if you are driving a wine route or continuing to Lagodekhi. On prices: our 2026 scans covered 24 Sighnaghi properties, with rooms from about US$112 a night and a median from-price of the same order, a narrow band that reflects hotels rather than family rooms.
Eating and going out
Eating here is Kakhetian and unfussy: mtsvadi grilled over vine cuttings, khinkali at roughly 1.5-2.5 GEL a piece, badrijani, fresh churchkhela, chakapuli in spring. Restaurants cluster on the square and the two main streets, and terraces with a valley view fill first — worth reserving for sunset in October.
Wine is the point. Qvevri-made amber wines and Saperavi dominate, and small family cellars in town and the surrounding villages run tastings for something like 20-40 GEL a head, usually with food. Georgia has zero tolerance for drink-driving, so build the day around a hired driver rather than your own car.
Nightlife barely exists, and that is part of the appeal. A few bars and hotel terraces stay open late; by eleven the lanes are quiet and the town belongs to residents again. Off-season, kitchens close early and some places shut entirely, so eat before nine and check your restaurant is actually open.
Booking well
This is a small market — our 2026 scans found only 24 hotels, which is why availability, not price shopping, is the real constraint. From-prices started around US$112 and the median from-price sat at much the same level, so treat that as the entry band and expect harvest weekends and holidays to sit above it.
Book three to six weeks ahead for late September and October, for the May public holidays, and for any Saturday in the shoulder seasons. Midweek from November through March is where the flexibility and the discounts are, if you can accept fog and a shorter list of open kitchens.
Read the room details before you pay: heating in winter, air conditioning in August, whether the view is real, parking if you drive, breakfast, and how many stairs an old stone house involves. Small guesthouses are not staffed around the clock, so message your arrival time and keep a phone number.
Two nights is the right length. One covers the walls, the museum and Bodbe; the second buys a proper winery day in the villages without watching the clock for the last minibus. If you only have a few hours, day-trip from Tbilisi and spend the money on a good driver instead.
